INFANTS

(4 weeks - 17 months)

Infants are provided an atmosphere where they can explore and make new discoveries while receiving personalized attention & nurturing.

Cognitive Development

Cognitive development is a critical stage where infants learn to adapt and respond to their environment. Infants will have the ability to utilize and develop their senses while engaging in activities that will help them make correlations between sights & sounds.

The teachers will implement infant activities that will assist with your infant’s development and ensure the activities are adjusted as the infant grows each month. The activities will also aid in communication to comprehend not only verbal sounds but nonverbal body language as well.

The infant stage is where your infant will acquire a sense of trust with the nurturing adults at Right Steps Childcare & Academy through encouraging cooperation and imaginative play.

Infant Activities

  • Tummy time

  • Developing leg muscles using objects that support walking

  • Learning through exploring various textures and interactive toy

  • Displaying social gestures through interactive materials.

  • Learning self-awareness through songs

  • Sensory play, such as fingerpainting, blocks, etc.

  • Outside exploration via walks around the facility and/or playground activity

  • Sorting activities that involve puzzles and other objects

  • Instructional activities

 

TODDLERS

(18 months - 24 months)

Toddlers are provided an environment that will foster the development of friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity. The daily agenda will incorporate experiences in dramatic play, block building, art, music, reading and language development, and manipulatives geared to the development of muscles.

Cognitive Development

The focus on Cognitive Development will focus on broadening your toddler’s understanding of their personal environment and aspects of the outside world. The Right Steps Childcare & Academy will ensure that every opportunity is a teachable moment that will allow your toddler to make a correlation between verbal responses and motor skills that will result in the ability to follow instructions and complete tasks.

The toddler stage will also incorporate modeling conversation and make associations between specific words/names and objects. Toddler communication will be the introduction to social skills as they develop friendships with their “toddler” friends. Your toddler will be introduced to emotional maturity and the use of good manners by saying “please” and “thank you” and “I’m sorry”.

The social and emotional growth will focus on teaching your toddler to understand their emotions, coping with their emotions, and respecting their relationships with their friends and Right Steps’ caregivers.

Toddlers are extremely active. The Right Steps Childcare & Academy teachers will have daily activities that will focus on developing your toddler’s coordination and balance.

Toddler Activities

  • Identifying and sorting objects by color, shape and size

  • Following simple commands such as “pick up the block” and “put the ball in the basket”

  • Read-a-louds and discuss to ensure comprehension

  • Games with their “toddler friends” / classmates

  • Answering questions and completing repetitive phrases

  • Pretend play

  • Explaining emotions

  • Expressions through song

  • Question/answer dialogue

  • Exercise through guided activities that include running, jumping, bending, moving, and having FUN, FUN, FUN

PRE-SCHOOLERS

(3 - 4 years old)

Pre-Schoolers are provided an environment to prepare them for kindergarten with a focus on the development of early literacy, mathematics, science, and social skills. The children will get accustomed to a consistent routine like that of a school setting while still being able to enjoy a healthy dose of running, jumping, and dancing to keep them active.

SCHOOL AGE

(Kinder - 6th Grade)

 

School-Age children are provided before school and after school care. Transportation will be provided to the local Spring ISD schools for grades K – 6th. After school care will include help with homework. A focus on social and emotional development, life-skills, and discipline will be fostered by Right Steps Childcare & Academy. In addition, the children can look forward to an AWESOME summer program filled with learning, fun, and field-trips.
